I’m researching the hAP ac³ router. I want to connect it to a Mac and TV. Use HD (SSD) to store videos and photos to view on TV.
It is possible to connect storage via USB. Beware that file service (SMB, …) is notoriously slow on all MT models so far, not really fit to be used as a decent NAS. I’m not sure about full compatibility with macOS either. And no DLNA service available natively on ROS (can be handy for TV).
Wouldn’t it be easier to use a stupid Raspberry PI with some media server for that purpose ?
And I’m sure there will also be a container solution but good luck with resources on ac3 then.
My view: don’t use a router as NAS.
