External website / app scripting to hotspot users

I have a little “problem” (more like an annoyance) that I’m not sure how to tackle.

Is there any way, in which I can make a simplified webpage, where a user can input a username, and that username gets added to my hotspot user list?

I administer the WiFi of two hotels, where people are given out automatically generated tickets for their daily internet needs, however there are some conferences, which would need a personalised username (no password) for the duration of that event.

Right now, I’m sent an email by the Events Dept with the username they need, and I add it manually to the user list. It’s fine when it’s one or two, but the list is becoming lengthier on a daily basis, to a point where it’s now just a pain in the side, and wasting a lot of my limited time.

What I need is, something where the frontdesk people, can just access this page / app, punch in the username, and some sort of scripting adds to the user list.

There’s no way in hell I’m going to give these users Winbox access, or I’d be digging my own grave. Of course I’m not expecting people to just hand me the solution, but a push in the right direction would be appreciated.

Sounds like you need a back-end Radius solution then instead of local authentication if you are looking to give people restricted access like that. There are a couple of choices out there depending on your needs and how much time and effort you are willing to put into it.

For example this would do what you want and more for user authentication, and giving staff the ability to make access codes, but nothing more:

Hmmmm … I guess I’ll stick to manual input then
