failed: this key is upgraded and have changed software ID!

Hi, I would like to ask for help.

We had big storm yesterday evening, causing several interruptions of electric power. I was too surprised after login into one random selected RB333 this morning. There was opened window “your license is not valid” with contdown how many hours it will remain works.

License status before the storm - it was updated into new format XXXX-XXXX (once I went through all our RBs inside network and made this update). There was stored license .key file in RB during this license update.

So, when I saw irritating countdown, I tried to import license from stored .key file. Reboot was requsted, so OK for reboot. After reboot it seems good, but there is upgradable only to version v3.x, not to v4.x as before the storm yesterday. I tried to use button Update License Key, but error message failed: this key is upgraded and have changed software ID!

Knows somebody what happened, what should I do to fix it fully?

this usually happens when you do this:

  1. Upgrade to v4
  2. Update the key to new format
  3. Downgrade back to v3 which has a key related bug
  4. Upgrade again to v4

This causes the SoftID to be different, so the server replies - you already upgraded this router once, and had a different key then.

You will need to write to support to get a new key.

Do not downgrade v4 to v3 !

there was never v4 firmware inside our network …
we are using v3 versions, currently there is v3 final i.e. v3.30 over the whole network

It’s either what I wrote, or by some miracle of nature, another RouterBOARD had the same old SoftID and it was upgraded (not likely).

I’m experiencing the same problems as described in this topic.
I’ve wrote to your support (Ticket#2013082766000298), a week ago but still no answer.
Should I wait more, or you don’t support that software misstakes anymore?
Please, note that older versions of MTOS (not later than 4.0beta2) are still working with my old soft ID.
But I need to use 6.2.

The strange thing was happened with RB600.
Running on v3.27 many years, once after reboot it showed me the countdown, as if it couldn’t have any license.
I don’t remember all the actions that I did, maybe I has tried to update license. Finally I imported the same license that it has (7-chars), theh, after reboot, it become running as normal, without a countown.
But it become upgradable up to v3.x only. I tried to upgrade/downgrade to v3.30, v3.20, v3.25, but I can’t upgrade to higher versions.
Please help me to fix it.
