We have a CCR1072 running which has about 800 PPPoE servers, 800 EOIP tunnels and about 4300 ppp users connected.
Out of the blue sometimes the PPPoE servers gets red and then we have to disable and restart the servers to get it working again.
What could be the issue? We are running ROS 6.40.

If you aren’t at 6.40.8, I’d make sure that you upgrade first.
There are serious security flaws in all earlier releases. You need to be at least at 6.40.8 or 6.41.2 to fix these.
No point in troubleshooting issues on older releases.

Yes I am on 6.40.8(bugfix). And factory firmware 3.33.
