Hi everybody, I’m new forum member and new basic user of mikrotik.
Actually I work for financial business, and these adding a new link for private usage of they software.
All routers on branch office with 2 link have same subnet on both routers and proxy server for web. Mikrotik can manage failover for these network config?
While mostly trying to guess what you ask - can Mikrotik detect R1 has lost uplink and reroute to R2 (is that it?) - the answer is yes but you need a complete overhaul:
Right now, the Mikrotik acts like a switch, it does not care about routing. As you can see, the windows machines target directly R1
You need to redo a lot in there, like create a new network between all stations and the mikrotik
If Mikrotik becomes involved in the routing it can detect R1 uplink failure by using recursive routing, look it up in the forum
Who manages R1 and R2? in the current setup, without changing the networks, the redundancy should be done at that level with some VRRP. It al depends on what’s configured on them.
Short answer - you need a dedicated network guy to do this reliably
Hi! techlord; my email inbox mark as spam the mikrotik emails
Thanks for your time, and trying understand me.
Yes, all Windows PC and including a ATM have gateway directly to R1. The company doesn’t give permission for modify them.
2)I can do any changes, but, the gateway and network doesn’t change.
3)Ok, I’m going to read
4)A company of security, basically impossible to contact, and lot of months for a simple change.
