I would like something more “instantaneous” than 90 sec to reroute, any ideas?
Thank you / tom
try the routing-test package.
where is this rerouting-test ? Where is the documentation?
The beta release of the package (yes, it is testing package, that is why it is called “routing-test”) is on the web (look inside the “all-packages” archive). The documentation is in works, just as the package itself.
about “rerouting”…
routing-test (beta) is it for MT 2.9 or 2.8 ?
2.9
We actually do not have a RouterOS system and am eval the capibilities of the software.
lastguru, do you have and real world preformance for the reroute with the beta pakage?
thank you / tom
dutco .
We use BGP to two diverse providers. Works very well. Config is 1U 2.8Ghz P4 , 1Gig Memory, 80Gig 7200 RPM drive, 3 GigE and 1 FastE NIC (all intel nics). With 160000+ routes from each peer. We still have 700megs of memory free and there is very little maybe a second to switchover to the other provider (almost seamless). If you simply want plain BGP it works very well. I havent tried 2.9 (since its RC and i like to stick with stable releases) . We use 2.8.28 . CPU load is usually 8-20% handling about 200mbps at times on the internet. It shoots to 100% usage for a minute during switchover if a bgp session fails but there is no noticeable loss of connectivity.
nikhil - thanks for your confirmation. we are getting ready to do a similiar setup. I wasn’t sure in the past from peoples posts if it actually worked on 2.8. Thank you.
nikhil: thank you for the reference. We will have a somewhat differnt setup, but it sounds like I need not be too concerned.
Thanks again for everyones comments.
