Our core routers are well suited in temperature controlled environment but our tower routers have partially bad conditions. We see rb1100 Series running without problems in worse conditions while CCR die with hot conditions.
Would like to use CCR everywhere as we need sfp/fiber ports and using ip filter/vlan bogs the cpu of the 1100 Series. Seen hick ups at above 20% cpu usage. But I guess we will see lower MTBF with CCR with these conditions.
These depends on weather conditions. Towerboxes are outdoor grey/white but may see direct sun light. We do not see above 38 Degrees C outdoor temperature and not below -20 Degree.
So may be inside the boxes it could get up to 50 Degrees. We see CCR1036-12G-4S die at these conditions (2 devices within 2 years at the same place). Looking at the specifications at routerboard.com the temperature range of all CCR models is more narrow than RB10xx …
