Looking to setup a few Mikrotik wireless access points, but I have been very underwhelmed with the performance of my test unit thus far (wAP AC) as I cannot get it running above 300-350mbps and have a 1Gbps internet connection.
Do any MikroTik wireless access points offer near gigabit speeds? The routing would not be handled by the AP and I will not be using CAPSman. My current ISP provides a CODA-4582 that I can achieve near 1000mbps over WiFi, but I would prefer to use MikroTik gear as it integrates with other systems I have.
? I reach the full standard speed with wAP AC under CAPsMAN and 1x1 802.11ac clients (433 - overhead = 300 Mbits half-duplex in tcp connections).
Of course full speed on 802.11n 2.4 Ghz too (1x1 at 144Mbps gets around 85 Mbits half-duplex). And i get more speed with 2x2 and 3x3 clients (around 400-450 Mbits) with the “old” wAP AC. CAP AC, Audience and RB4011 works better.
At the moment there isn’t AP from Mikrotik that can reach near gigabit speed. (Gigabit ethernet is full-duplex… you need around 3 Gbps wifi dedicated at only one client for the same speed).
When it comes to routing… I am confident I can beat a Tik into what I need.
When it comes to wireless… I am not.
After several years of trying… I just can’t use Mikrotik wireless in so many installs. I just took it off my list of vendors when it comes to wireless.
