ok, after bringing down our core internet router today would it be possable to get a Yes/No box conformation when disabling interfaces in winbox?
Better still, an OEM option to stop anyone disabling the ethernet interface?
Some boxes don’t have user-accessible serial ports to bring it back up again … ouch.

How about requiring the ADMIN password ?
Yes/No boxes often get ignored…
Or the option to “Set a lock” on an interface requiring the admin password to alter its config…
Just an idea…

That’s probably the ultimate idea - user-defined “locks” on features/interfaces that require admin rights to change them.
Not all end users are MT experts, or can be trusted not to mess with and break things …

Or, a way to use “safe mode” in winbox.
Open winbox, click New terminal, hit [ctrl] + to enter safe mode, leave terminal open and operate in winbox… Thats it. Now you get safe mode in winbox.
… a key motivation is to stop unskilled people “breaking” things.
Experts can look after themselves - hence the need to “lock” things …
I don’t think “safe mode” does that AFAIK.

To be honest, it happend to me few times
to disable interface acidentaly, cause my mouse was to fast ![]()
I agree that there should be confirmation box.
Cheers…
I think safe mode is more important than a lot of poeple think, how many times have you gone “shit, why did I do that”
I can not see why there can not be another button on the left hand side labeled “Safe Mode”.
It would show the MikroTik provides yet another easy to use feature, one that needs to be in peoples face.
You know the saying, “Out of sight, out of mind”
Thats cool, I did not realise that worked the way it does, thanks.
A button would still be nice, though.

My problem is that you can delete and disable rules just by pressing one key in Winbox. If you accidentally press a wrong key on the wrong place you may break something important.
What about an option to disable/enable hotkeys in winbox ?
