Would like to see more support for OpenVPN options in general, including the ability to create a interface without Username and password, import different format keys and crts.
I recently purchased a Mikrotik unit for the reason it had OpenVPN, unfortunately its not the best but I’m hoping you guys would please add some of the extra features.
I have no choice the server I am connecting to can only be set up in very few ways, beyond that I dont have control, I have to say you reply is amazingly fast but extremely negative, I would prefer to use openvpn as its a lot more secure as I have mentioned I don’t have a lot of choice.
It’s not “a lot more secure”, simply a different approach. We have chosen not to continue support for it. We will not remove it, but it will also not be upgraded, except if there are specific bugs to fix. For reasons “why” you can search this forum.
Ok thanks will see about moving to l2tp, you should post a sticky in this forum stating it wont be upgraded I imagine there are a lot of people searching for fixes to the same problems or missing features I looking for.
Recommending SSTP as alternative to openvpn? lol.
MT, this is most requested feature ever. How can you ignore it?
You suggest using L2TP? L2TP does not work in Mac OS X + ROS.
I can implement proper openvpn server in openwrt - but metarouter is broken!
What the hell?
I have to say I am surprised as well that you wouldn’t improve something that is being requested so often.
I did a little looking as per you suggestion.
The above was just the RouterOS BETA forum, when I checked the rest there was at least 152 topics, so its not like its an underused feature, and a lot of the topics were related to RouterOS limitations with OpenVPN.
LMAO terryb8s I think you are new to dealing with Mikrotik aren’t you ?
Mikrotik implement what they want not what its users want, once you been here a while you will realise requesting features is a complete waste of time.
RouterOS has some awesome features and is very powerful, but if it doesn’t do what you want from the off you basically got no hope of getting implemented unless it happens to be something MT want to work on themselves.
You say once you have been here a while, at this rate it wont be here much longer, if feature requests are handled like this I hate to imagine what bug-fix\support requests are like.
You are right though there are some awesome features and it is very powerful, so I’m not going to give up yet.
