[Feature Request] Script After / Before PPPoE Connect / Disconnect

Would be a great idea to add in / ppp profile the ability to run scripts when someone connect, or disconnect,
as well as hotspot user profile on-login / on-logout

because I like many people have several scripts that have to be running seconds in second, and so so would run if someone connect / disconnect

Funny. I emailed support two days ago with that exact feature request  . No reply yet, but I don’t blame them, since it was on a weekend, and it’s still only Monday.

+1, but for all PPP connection types, not only PPPoE.

I wish dhcp-client would trigger an event whenever it obtains/renews/releases a lease also.
Then I wouldn’t have to run my ddns-update script every 5 minutes.
(I —loathe— scheduled scripts that do something that should just be event driven)

The IP will not change w/o a lease being obtained. I don’t need to check it 500 times a day when the lease is good for 3 days.

Amen to that

yes, its really a great idea to all, PPP, DHCP-Server,wireless etc…

+1 for script support, that’s exactly what i just needed a few days ago.

DHCP server already has on-lease scripts. But yeah. Wireless too indeed.

At the risk of jinxing it, I’m going to reveal the final reply I got from support, after some back&forth, looking for possible alternative approaches, and why this is ultimately the best solution:

(my personal interpretation of that is “we’re aiming to have it in 6.30, but no promises!” )

Hi!

+100500 to more event triggers: DHCP-client lost/got, interfaces (all) up/down (connected/disconnected)

I am for the new feature too!

I hope there are more events! pppoe-connect/disconnect and etc

Thanks!

+1

Should be able to have an up/down script for IP address assignments on any interface, which would cover off any PPP clients, DHCP clients, …
