It sounds like there is some discussion about future plans for extending a web interface, but I am wondering how difficult it would be to just modify winbox to allow one to determine where the preferences, dll’s and address list are saved so that they aren’t saved in the \documents and settings\application data\ folder but instead in maybe the same directory as winbox.exe or a subdirectory from that location.
What would really be nice is if we could get it packaged for portableapps.com
There is the function to export, import address lists, but this functionality would be simpler for me as I would just insert the usb flash drive on any computer and go right to work.
I like that idea a lot. However, I would really like to see the username / passwords in some sort of encrypted state unlike how its stored now.
I agree fully on both. Encrypted storage and in different subfolders that can be choosen in winbox.
So you can even run several winbox loaders at the same time in one PC! Each with its own address/user list!
If you have many nodes in different networks It would be nice if you could just pick the ones in a certain network, or only pick all the AP’s.
Now I´m building up a long list in winbox with all nodes and have to start searching for the one I´m looking for.
Off course I can look up an IP in my administration but it works much faster if you just pick the one you need in winbox. But with a list of hundred nodes or more the advantage is gone.
we will see what we can do, thanks for the suggestions
