Existing ath10k hardware like the IPQ401X or the QCA9984 are compatible with the WPA3 standard through software updates. Ubiquiti has already enabled it on testing releases for Unifi APs and OpenWRT is also supporting it.
I’m running my hAP ac2 with OpenWRT and WPA3 is working correctly with old and new WiFi clients.
Linux on my laptop also has builtin WPA3 support for my QCA61x4a card where Windows 10 requires the user to install a driver from a shady website, ROS feels like ancient technology man.
I sold all my Mikrotik APs for Ruckus. The Ruckus has WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode and it is working fine. I only have one Linux laptop with WPA3 and the rest WPA2, it’s no problem together.
Personally I don’t need the features of WPA3 but I like that the Ruckus are future proof at least for some time.
