Feature requests

And what characters you expect instead of “?” ?

Escaped hex code if ROS can’t represent some character?

Minimum:

/tool sms inbox print proplist=message

should have option to print message as kind of hex sequence, like json-escaped string with characrters encoded in way \u0012
Maximum: if router receives SMS with UCS-2 chars (e.g. "Ελληνικά"), user should be able to see "Ελληνικά" it using WinBox (Tool - SMS - Inbox) and Console

 /tool sms inbox ....

.

You can directly read SMS with AT commands on HEX way.
RouterOS do not support at all any special characters of any language.

I even can not to use LTE at all and pull a wire directly to my home, yes, I got it.

Feature request for the products section of the Mikrotik website: add possibility to sort by price (and possibly the other option range parameters). Or alternatively add product filters / category selection / SwOS devices to the product matrix.

It is already there! Check the left column of the products section.

I think the issue is that SMS does not use a standard character set like UTF-8 but uses its own character sets GSM-7 and UCS-2. There would have to be a translation from these to UTF-8 or ISO-8859-x. Likely MikroTik consider that just "a step too far".
But I agree that at least you should have the option the do it yourself, by providing the binary message.

I would like to see this in RouterOS, yes!

(And when implementing this… Please also allow FWD type DNS entries to work with DoH enabled.)

It would be nice if add the following features:

  1. Displaying loopback interface and manage (or displaying) ipv4 and ipv6 addresses on them.

  2. DHCPv6 Server - not only prefix binding, but also address leases

  3. IPSec mode config - manage issue not only ipv4 pool, but also ipv6 addresses for clients

  4. WireGuard peers - add “DisallowedIPs” field for exclude ranges from AllowedIPs

  5. DNS Static - if A (or AAAA) static record for some fqdn are present in DNS Static - do not resolve this fqdn through upstream dns-servers (it is necessary for behavior like hosts-file dns override) Sorry, all work fine

  6. HTTP/HTTPS reverse proxy (like nginx. example: accept all web-connections from wan and proxy-redirect to local web-servers by fqdn)

Add Support for “Virtual Interfaces”
-MACVLAN
-IPVLAN

DHCPv6 server lease sync (with routes automatically added/removed to ia_pd)
DHCPv6 client/server full support (ia_na)

UPS package:

Turn UPS output on and off.

I am OK with command-line only interface for this, but web will be nice as well.

Please add OpenVpn UDP + TCP fallback support (Both UDP and TCP OpenVpn servers available at the same time). I’ve seen this implementation in Stormshield UTM. When user tries to connect first it use UDP and if it fails switches to TCP.

client
dev tun
remote xxx.xxx.x.xx 1194 udp
remote xxx.xxx.x.xx 443 tcp
cipher AES-128-CBC
tls-cipher TLS-ECDHE-RSA-WITH-AES-128-CBC-SHA256
auth SHA256
nobind
resolv-retry infinite
persist-key
persist-tun

Even the stock OpenVPN server does not support that! (stupid, I know…)

It would be nice if mikrotik can add vnstat & vnstati as extra package. And the vnstat database can be placed on mounted usb storage, so the stored metrics will not be lost when the system is restarted.

vnStat is a console-based network traffic monitor for Linux and BSD that keeps a log of network traffic for the selected interface(s).

I’m sure this feature is useful for newbie users who use mikrotik home router.

This data can be sent to syslog server like Splunk and graph there.
