FFTH italy and GPON PLOAM

Hello,
i have a customer with a router (TIM HUB+) with sfp 2.5gbps but 4 ports 1gbps.
and would connect my router and switch to 2.5gps.

so i remove sfp module from TIM HUB and put in a RB5009
sfp is recognized, in interfaces i see vendor name / serial / temperature / ecc…
but status is down…
i try to create VLAN TAG (835) and pppoe over sfp but not working…

i call a collegue and recommed me to call AVM.
AVM tells me to use a 5590 and use this guide
https://techstart.it/collegare-fritzbox-5590-fibra-ftth-tim-non-solo/
unfortunately is in italian…

i have GPON PLOAM extract from TIM HUB that works…
can i have a chance to use my RB5009/CCR to have FTTH and pppoe directly on mikrotik device?

or is better buy fritzbox 5590 and use mikrotik in LAN with DMZ?

thank you in advance.

Why unfortunately?
Because you cannot understand Italian or because you assume that other members may not understand Italian? :open_mouth:

I think the issue is with the specific SPF module that is in the TIM modem/router, that is only compatible with that specific ZTE device and not with any Mikrotik (and probably other manufacturer devices).
The Fritzbox instructions link you provided uses the Fritzbox provided port, and you “clone” the serial number of the original SPF module, so the question is more - I believe - does Mikrotik allow changing the serial on a compatible SFP module? And which SFP module is compatible with both Mikrotik and TIM ISP fiber?

The normal reference should be the fibraclick forum:
https://forum.fibra.click/
though it seems like there is not (yet) any definite answer there:

yes i’m italian,
but i presume is better post guide in english.

anyway, i call ISP and they setup FTTH with ont (external)
so i have a 2.5gbps port from ont to RB5009 and then create vlan+pppoe

now works all fine
thank you
