FiberBox is ideal for outdoor, really?

Hello guys!

I Wanna ask about FiberBox.

FiberBox (CRS105-5S-FB) is based on CRS106-1C-5S. CRS105-5S-FB cost avg 79$ and CRS106-1C-5S cost avg 59$.

Additional 20$ for outdoor box and S-RJ01. Ok. But… you really forget that CRS106-1C-5S have combo with PoE? And it is more intresting for outdoor use… because have PoE and less price.

FiberBox is weatherproof, but… powersupply is not weatherproof. So what we need to do?) Install weatherproof case inside other weatherproof box? Ha-ha… so funny. Dont think so?

So maybe you fix this epic fail? In Ukraine your FiberBox is dead product, because providers use weatherproof boxes and/or PoE. In this situation CRS106-1C-5S = CRS105-5S-FB with saving 20$. And no pain what to do with power supply.

P.S. Power supply from package have UV-stabilized cables? That’s cables can work without damages in rain, frost and UV from sun long time?)

P.S.S. And really think where we need to mount optical pigtail? EdgePoint have coils for fiber winding + zip, and what we have in FiberFox? So i think waterproof design of FiberBox is non-usable in real world…

Do something…

Take a look at mUPS unit, its 12v battery backup so cabling to the battery must be short so again you need extra outdoor box for the battery

  • I never recommend putting battery in sealed box outside exposed on sun.

Really?) mUPS don’t have DC-Out and FiberBox don’t support PoE-In!
