Firmware 7.16

Mikrotik RB750UP after updating the firmware to version 7.16 it is impossible to download or upload files. platform: mipsbe, a full reset was performed, one user by default: admin

Best to create ticket to support.
They don’t read all posts here on the forum (this is after all a USER forum, users helping others).

Check your users permissions.

I did a full reset and there is only one user by default.

Your WinBox version is?

My WinBox is 3.41 (64 Bit). OS: Windows 10 Pro x64

I think worth reporting to Mikrotik support. https://help.mikrotik.com/servicedesk/servicedesk

Keep us updated in this topic. I am curious.

Actually, I had two Mikrotik RB750UTs working, one worked as a simple router, the other as a VPN, and when I updated the firmware, both stopped working. But I needed to export certificates on the VPN, and that’s how I encountered this problem. I have two offices and Mikrotik disrupted my work yesterday and today, we suffered losses. If the problem is not solved in the near future, I will be forced to sue the Mikrotik manufacturer and refuse the Mikrotik manufacturer. I had old spare Cisco RV042s and resumed the work of my offices. Yes, I will definitely let you know how it all ends. Thank you for your quick support.

I really regret that I upgraded my Mikrotik, the equipment is cool, even Cisco can’t provide such capabilities, and each port is a separate subnet and VPN and VLAN for each port and routing. Cool, cool. BUT Shit.

It is pretty sure, even if I am not a lawyer, there is no way of suing Mikrotik for your own actions (update device from unknown version to 7.16). There are no laws in EU for that.
I am sure you already tried to sue Microsoft for one failed Windows Update - everyone had at least once in his life - you saw the Blue Screen of Death. How did it work out? Microsoft paid you reparations?

Yes, I agree with you. When in August, if I’m not mistaken in August 12 there was a failure of Windows Server 2019 servers due to updates, my lawyers are still suing Microsoft, but unsuccessfully so far.

This my company

And Mikrotik disrupted my company’s work

You affected by Crowdstrike as well?

According to https://mikrotik.com/product/RB750UP this device only has 64MiB of disk storage. Why does it show 128MiB in your Winbox screenshot? Has it always been so? Or have you different hardware revision with more disk storage?

However, even 64mb is plenty of space. You really should partition your device (2 partitions). In case of a failed upgrade the bootloader can automatically switch over to second partition. Config can easily copied from active/running to inactive partition by press of a button in Winbox. This would have saved your ass I guess.

Until 7.17 rolls in ..

@Utiug
Although your admin user is in group “full”, it means nothing actually. It is just a group name.

Can you please check in Groups tab if the “full” group is missing any permissions, especially the “ftp” permission must be enabled.

Bit surprised to read that you rely a companies business on two discontinued products. If they are that important to you, I would expect you to have at least a testlab where upgrades are tested befor bringing to production. Especially while using these low-end devices (nothing wrong with them, don’t get me wrong!).

But my main question: why did you upgrade? Why did you require this specific version? And which version RouterOS where you running? Did you upgrade firmware as well?

Yes, I agree with you. These routers have been working for a very, very long time and there were no problems with them. When we started the business, we thought about IT infrastructure last. Yesterday I called a specialist from a telecommunications company and they replaced our old Cisco RV042 with new Mikrotiks. Now everything is fine. The topic can be closed. RB750UT will go to the trash.

so how did MT do that?
was it MT who did not test your setup and your configuration on the applied firmware?
was it MT who did not test essential functions of your setup vital to your company working?

do not ever apply untested (by yourself in your environment!) firmware!
and as it is a MIPSBE platform i guess the purchase of a second such device would not have blown a budget. what do i know…
