What I can see when I enable “Auto Upgrade” box in System → RouterBoard → Settings is that after ROS update the device will upgrade firmwre and wait until reboot (so no reboot automatically).
I think this is not something that fits well the autoupgrade word itself. So to say, it saves me pressing “Upgrade” button in System → Routerboard - but I have to do the reboot myself. No time save I’d say.
May I use it in a wrong way? The ros to test was 6.42.1 and 6.42.2, upgrade was to 6.42.3.
AFAIK there is no way to upgrade firmware with files being used, so I guess a reboot is something that we cannot avoid.
On the other hand I believe that by having this function they aim to “steal” some upgrades just by simply rebooting the system even if the admin has forgotten to request for upgrade.
The probably believe that if you have problems you will at least reboot, so no matter what, the system will at least wake with the latest firmware compared to the OS.
What I can see now is that after the ROS upgrade the firmware also upgrade, too, but device need to be rebooted second time after that - so no good in this upgrade until reboot happens. So the question is, is it possible to have second reboot to be done automatically too?
