Hello, after unknown reasons, ports mikrotik 951-2HnD began to behave strangely:
First port, stopped seeing network
If you insert the cable into other connectors, then the cable can be seen successfully, or it can begin to “jump” (that is, a link, then not for a short time)
In connection with this, it may make sense to flash through tftp, but the first connector does not work, and the other ports do not start in firmware recovery mode. I can connect using a com cable, but then the router will be flashed the same way as via wi-fi / ethernet.
Is there an alternative way to a full reset and firmware?
Sadly bios can only netboot from first ethernet port and no other… so it’s pretty much bricked.
The netinstall kernel can recognize all router interfaces and use them, but problem is how to load it in the first place. I fixed RB600 with bad eth1 this way by booting netinstall kernel from CF card and it recognized connection on eth2 normally. But RB951 can only boot from NAND or ETH1, so you are stuck.
No, eth1 is still dead. My board was damaged by lighting or static, no amount of firmware updating can fix that.
But I was just able to netinstall the board using eth2 and use it for home AP/router (with limitation of one port not working).
However that was ONLY possible thanks to the RB600 having CF card slot and being able to boot from CF card.
Your RB951 doesn’t have that option so you can’t do the same…
