First time setting up long range link

am trying to setup a link 7.7km using 2x SXT 5Lite, one set to bridge and the other bridge - station. I cannot get them to see each other. Could it be alignment? I took a bearing on Google earth and aligned both radios like that but obviously no vertical alignement at all, just mounted horizontally.

Any advice going forward here?

SXT 5 Lite not enough for 8km link. if there is too much noisy they will not work good. lock your client device frequency to you AP frequency that will make easy to find AP ssid. and also check if you click for hide ssid on your AP Bridge side. sory for my bad english.

8km is too much for a SXT 5 Lite. While it could theoretically link, it won’t stable.

Have a look at Selection Guide for PTP Links.

Sextant, LHG5, Disc5, QRT… are better choices for this scenario.

You can either keep the SXTs for another PTP (<5km) and buy a new pair of radios, or keep one SXT (the one that will be Rx most of the time) and set the new, higher gain one (QRT for example) as the sending AP.

I have SXTG5HPacD’s installed

Forget the antenna on the one photo, that has also been changed to an SXT

Doesn’t make much of a difference, antenna gain is the same no matter the SXT.
