First time with Mikrotik and we got a CCR-1009-8G-1S-1S+

So the company i work for just purchased a CCR-1009-8G-1S-1S+ to replace our Cisco Dual Wan Router. We have 2 cable modems and 3 network switches.

I need to setup the CCR to do load balancing and switching w/ 1 DHCP Server serving all 3 switches.

I was wanting to get some guidance setting this up.

My thoughts:

Eth2: WAN1
Eth3: WAN2

Eth 5-8 switching connected to DHCP server.

Any help setting this up would be greatly appriciated as this router is a lot more complex then i am used to.

I have looked through some walkthroughs but they don’t make sense for the CCR.

I suggest configuring the two WAN ports in PCC for load balancing, follow guide here:

on the CCR1009, the first 4 ports can be used for switching, so I suggest using Eth5 and Eth6 for WAN1 and WAN2, and the 1-4 for switching.

To configure ports in switch mode, set one of them as the master for others. For example, open up the Eth2 port in Interfaces → Ethernet, and set Eth1 as master for this port. Then set the same for other ports that you want to be part of the switch. Any port can be master for the others, but they all have to be from the Group1 (Eth1-Eth4)
