Fixed AP's with external sensors

Hi, just throwing this one out there since we know MT’s are flexible in their architecture & designs.

I was staring at my cAP AC mounted in the ceiling of my house, and was thinking wouldn’t it be great if the unit had plug-inable sensors like :
“Smoke detector”, “Particulate detector”, “CO & CO2”, “IR movement”, “vibration”, and other sensors (Arduino I2C style !!), or even a RTSP/SIP speaker output.!

And before I get the ‘its router statement’; Yes I know its a router 1st and foremost..and yes you can add ‘another device’ to do whatever… But still!!
But would it not be cool to have the unit, email/SMS you that a sensor of your choice has hit a threshold etc..

I tend to be from the other camp: don’t add these kind of things to networking equipment.
But on this one I agree with you. I would really like to have some simple sensors on an AP and let is communicate it’s values with an MQTT server for example. It would save me having to install extra cables or boxes.
