Flashfig without Windows

I need to make a simple foolproof solution to configure multiple routers.

While flashfig is a useful tool it requires time, minor skills and some attention… Starting a windows PC, getting the right file etc.

A quicker simpler one touch/hands-off solution is needed in my case.

My idea is to substitute the windows PC with a Mikrotik device.

Some investigation exposes that Flashfig uses Bootp, DHCP and TFTP.

I can set this all up on an MT, and transfer a .rsc file to a the new MT device on first boot, however the file is never actioned… further investigation shows the windows Flashfig server first compresses the .rsc file.

Does anyone know what file compression is used or how to get around this problem?

Did you ever succeed? I am trying to recover a bricked device and the nettinstall tool does not work for me, …
