I am trying to configure my router to provide “bursts” to my subscribers. I am having trouble measuring my results because of the way most bandwidth test sites work.
For instance, the bandwidth test I use most (http://speakeasy.net/speedtest) shoves a bunch of data at you to set up the test and then immediately begins the test and gives you your measurements. So whatever burst you have programmed gets eaten up in the “prolog,” before the testing even begins. Other sites I have found do things in a similar way.
What I am looking for is a site that will perform bandwidth testing in a more flexible way – for example, pump any apps or data at you that it needs to do the job, and then waits for you to initiate the test, so you can wait out the burst interval and start from a renewed and unperturbed state.
Does anyone have a favorite speed test site that does this? Is there another way to do this testing? (Note: I do zero MikroTik to MikroTik traffic, so many of the built-in tools aren’t applicable.)
