For real, what is with these blinding power leds?

At this point I think Mikrotik is just trolling us  Why new routers needs to come with extra super bright blue LED as a power indicator? Even worse… why is this LED permanently wired to the power source?

I’m fully aware I can just take an iron and remove the bloody LED from the board or change it to a different color or even a blue low power indicator one, however this seems slightly stupid.

Is this a some signature feature of RBs or what?

Black tape is your friend to reduce LED brightness of whatever anytime

The LED’s are very bright, means I can’t run it in any room where someone is going to sleep at all. While tape works it shouldn’t be the answer. From my 2011’s to my CCR they all have very bright blue LED’s.

Yes noticed this on my new 4011 i was hoping I could turn it off in the software but nup, I will be black taping it to keep it down, literally shines through multiple rooms if I leave the office door open haha.

Maybe use a sharpie pen to dim it?

I also use black tape to block those tiny flashlights from lighting up the whole room.

I recommend you to buy some model packed in that new black 5port case (like hAP ac2). You will beg for brighter LED. Power is at least bit visible but port-status indicators? I literary have to use my hands as tube to cast shadow, so I can see whether it is on/off/blinking.

Which model are you talking about? Maybe mikrotik just heard this complain and fixed it in new revision?

We have heard you, and have removed this type of LED from the alternative parts list

Can we replace these ones on existing units (with soldering iron), without loosing warranty…?

My RB4011 also has blinding light…

Use a black electrical tape or black marker to tone it down

Tfw rack has black dimmed glass and MikroTik still lights up everything around…

MikroTik be like

Thanks MT for placing an option to turn off all leds on RB5009UPr units

FINALLY!

Is it??? Wow, have to check this out. Is there a script to turn them off at night? I don’t need internet while sleeping … yet.
