looking for a guiding hand in the world of mikrotik

Randy

Obviously I can only speak for myself:
I’m trying to help people as much as I can. But I have to earn some money somehow, and can’t spend the whole day here (although I’m usually having a look at the forums quite often per day).
Helping out people here is spending time on good will for most active forum users.

On the other hand I myself (and most others, I suppose) are not really motivated to answer questions from people who obviously

  1. have not taken the time to read the manual (yes, it is a big manual, but PLEASE read it - it’s quite comprehensive) or
  2. have not done some own tests or
  3. don’t really describe their problem (I don’ take “the f***ing thing is not doing what I want - I need a XYZ” without further information about the problem as a sensible problem description).
(To Randy: That’s a general notion of mine. I’m not stating this fits to you, in fact I’m not even recalling your posts at the moment - only take this personal if you feel you should  )

And you should not forget that MikroTik always states that this is a user-to-user forum - they won’t guarantee support here (although several MikroTik guys hang around here). If you want support from MikroTik directly, please write to support@mikrotik.com.

Apart from that I’d suggest to keep asking questions here - the chance that someone WILL be answering is not too bad in my opinion.

i have read the manual and yes it is very informitive . however either i am just not getting it or something.

just have q&a on particular aspect of the router and if you looked at some of my posts they are fairly detailed on the questions.

i also was not directing this post at any one . it was that i noticed that some questions go unanswered . at least the forum admin could do is tell them they need to be more specific in there question or something..

thank you for responding to my question and i hope to learn more.

also i will read the manual again and see if i understand more and i will try to
be as detailed as possible

Randy

i was also not meaning just my post were not getting answered

Randy

Randy, as I stated in my posting:

only take this personal if you feel you should

I was posting more from a general frustation about users asking questions answered in the manual or asking questions without really stating what the problem is.

thanks for your input.

i will chat with you later

Randy
