Hi, I encountered a problem with the speed of the Dude client while setting up a network monitoring service. The suspects are both v2.2 and v3.0b7.
- What does it do:
I connect to a Dude server. It “gets the stuff”, then shows what it has to show. But after some time, when I want to click on some device to view it’s properties, or move some device’s window a bit sideways or want to click to view another tab… the client stops responding. The client’s background window goes blank (gray), and the device’s foreground window is rendered incorrectly, i.e. with missing /transparent background pieces / buttons / borders or other elements. In this “unconscious” state it remains for (cca.) 30 secs then it operates normally, even the window moving / opening clicking stuff does not seem to border it anymore, but within a few (usually 1-2) minutes it starts his trickery again.
- What did I do (with both of the suspects):
Tried to install and run as service on 3 (in fact 2) computers. A PC with Windows Vista (P4 2.4 GHz, 1.5 GiB RAM), a server with Windows 2003 R2 Std x64 SP2 (C2D E6600, 4GiB RAM), MS Virtual Server 2005 on this server machine hosting Windows 2003 Std.
Tried to connect to these services from various places. From client to the server running on the localhost and to the other, remote servers. In every session, the above mentioned lockups occured.
Our LAN runs at 100Mbps and most of this bandwidth is available so I’s exclude it from the list of possible causes.
Has anyone else experienced the same slowdown?
