We have a some issue with our Cloud Core Router CCR1036-12G-4S. Our 18 branches are connected through L2TP VPN and users use PPTP
VPN to this device. Each VPN account uses static local and remote IP addresses. From time to time (usually after several days)
on “Active Connection” tab (from PPP section) appear many frozen connections (kind: ppp-place, ppp-place1, ppp-place2 for each branch, etc…) which can’t be removed via GUI or CLI. This frozen connects interfere with normal work VPN-tunnels. As far as we noticed this issue appeared after upgrade firmware. At the moment, we use actual firmware (6.12) but this issue is persist. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Is this configuration issue or firmware bug?
I have just similar problem with my CCR-1036-12G-4S Router with RouterOS v6.12 and PPTP server enabled.
PPTP server uses several profiles, that all are similar to “default-encryption” and differ only in “Local Address” and remote address pool. All clients have their remote addresses and local server address configured in “Secrets” section and Mikrotik is set up to give them addresses from different subnets and gives them different server address respectively. Hanging PPTP connections appear on Mikrotik, that can be seen in “Active Connections” window and between PPTP interfaces, but really this connections are broken, and on clients this connections are shut down. This appear with all types of clients, on computers with Windows and Linux OS, another Mikrotik Routers, with remote clients that have bad connection to the internet and with servers in local subnet with router. If i set up “Only one” setting in profile to “enabled”, than those clients continuously try to set up connection again, but have no success and receive authentication failure respond. If i set this setting to disable, than i receive multiple connections on mikrotik, that are similar (and similar remote client addresses) and traffic loss thereby. These hanging connections cant be removed from “active connections” window as far as from running interfaces, no matter from winbox or console. The only way that helps now is router reboot. Setting “Keepalive interval” to 1 second helped, these connections now appear rarely, but still appear. Ovpn tunnels have this issue too. I noticed that, after appearing 1 hanging connection , shortly all another connections freeze too.
I send my suppout.rif to Mikrotik support yesteday and described this problem, but didn’t receive any respond yet.
I am having the same issue and i am running an x86 setup with 100+ VPN clients. Have you guys come to a resolution to this problem or it is still a problem. Can someone from RouterOS reply to this ticket?
