Hi All,
I have 2 Mikrotiks (CCR1016-12S-1S+) currently in a multihomed setup. We have a /23 that we’re advertising but we are only accepting the default routes from both providers. I know this is not the best way to multihome but I am not sure if my 2 routers can handle the full table. Anyone using the above routers in a similar situation and how is the performance?
Thanks,
Jay
It’s possible, but convergence time can be horrible.. between 5 and 15 minutes.
Convergence time in BGP with CCRs is very dependent upon your upstream provider as well as the CPU load. I’ve seen it happen as quickly as a couple of minutes and as long as 10+ mins.
Test it yourself (in a non-production CCR) by using this VM and you’ll know what your best case scenario will be.

Also take a look at the CCR1072 BGP performance testing we did as a rough guide.

Thanks Cegner and IPANetEngineer. I wanted to get some feedback to gauge whether we can do with these 2 routers or upgrade. Your comments have added to my push for an upgrade.
Many thanks
