Getting Away from the Bridge

Is there a way to not use bridging when you want to connect many access points together? We have about 98 access points and want to segregate our network so when there are many users, it doesn’t slow down too much.

Any ideas?

Call me at 402-641-7692 or 402-534-2502 ext 22. I can set this up for you. I have a great network topology layout that will work great for what you want.

Any reason why you want me to call? I’m sure many people could benefit from it being posted on the forum.

forum can give you tips and general ideas, if you want somebody to set it up for you, or give you a complete solution plan, this usually costs money.

I don’t want someone to set it up for me, and i don’t want a complete solution…

All I want is to be pointed in the right direction, not ripped off by someone who’s going to tell me to WDS, which is what I already use.

Depending on you layout, the simplest way to segregate the traffic is with a combination of routing and vlans. Routing will segragate the traffic at lay 3 and vlans at layer 2. If your network in one complete bridge you will see big increases in performance by separating the traffic. Look at doing Vlans to each ap or hub site and same for routing, again what will work best will depend on your present lay out.
