Getting started with traffic monitoring

I have a MikroTik 493AH - lovely bit of gear, and it’s all running quite happily.

I want to get some better visibility into the traffic on our network, and the Traffic Monitor feature looks like what I’m after… but I’m not sure what a good choice of software to use with this feature

What’s a good monitoring program to use to start keeping track of the MikroTik’s traffic and logs? It can run on either Linux or Windows, I’ll set up a dedicated virtual machine for this. (If there is a downloadable preconfigured VM device that would be even better!)

I’m trying to get Zenoss to display the device stats but it doesn’t seem to want to talk to the MikroTik’s SNMP… and I’m not sure Zenoss will actually do what I need.

Can anyone help out here, or at least point me in the direction of the right software to use?
