Gibabit ethernet router with bandwidth control and load balancing

I am looking for a router which I will use in a hotel environment. We have a 200MBit connection. (I want to connect the router with the modem via ethernet)

We want to connect several (~5) wifi access points to provide Internet to our guests. Every guest has to accept our terms of condition before he can use the Internet. Every connection should be saved within a logfile with date, time and the MAC addresses. Furthermore we want to limit the bandwidth of every device (for instance 3Mbit).

Nice to have: Load balancing

I am not sure, which hardware I should choose. We will have maybe 50 people at once in our network. Worst case is 100 at once.

Which router is the right one?

For a hotel I would recommend the CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+ or the RB3011UiAS-RM also

RB1100AHx2 would do great. It has ipsec acceleration (good for linking remote sites) and ethernet bypass (very interesting for dual router / dual internet access setups).

Logging is easy with rsyslog on a linux box.

At a customer I have (it is a hotel) we use an RB951G-2HnD for routing the wireless clients - DNS, DHCP with multiple pools, no queues / mangle. Its perfect for their 50/20mbit or so net connection. We have 17 UniFi APs and so far about 200 guests were the max.
For 200mbps I’d rather get an RB3011. Or an RB750Gr3, it has a pretty powerful dual-core CPU too.

I guess you can play with rules on the tik, but it is easier with proper APs. Consider UniFi Controller software - click-click-OK and it works. With built-in per-client bandwidth management, client isolation etc. and nice graphs that no one will ever check
For the logs, Mikrotik can supply syslog / Traffic Flow data. The rest is up to you (logging, Hotspot, whatever).

:open_mouth: no pcq and you have nobody complaining it sucks?
