In fairness... on point 2, the RB5009 should have /app as it's ARM64. And on 3rd point, 7.22 introduces many controls on CPU/memory usage to, hopefully, prevent a container for using all resources.
But not wrong, another member of the RB5009 be welcomed. And given APs, like hAPbe3, are now >1Gb, the lack of 2.5G ports is more noticable.
Hi @normis ,
any timeline for our plannings regarding "hAP be³ Media"? When it is expected to be ordered? And provided (realistic)?
And any rough timeline for a RB6xxx (with all ports 2.5G)? 2026Q1? Q2? Would be a great additional gfit
I would really appreciate any additional time information - like to bring your announced gift soon into action in my office and home...so keen on it...
I will switch to FTTH next year and would like to invest in a more powerful router in the near future. However, I would prefer not to buy an RB5009 now if a successor is already planned or in development. It would therefore be helpful to know whether anything new is planned.
āThe next new and better model is around the cornerā was sometimes said by sales people in other IT companies and they (nearly) destroyed the company because sales fell to zero.
Of course that is more likely to happen in a company that sells only one single product, but stillā¦
Now there is evidence of 802.11be equipment (hap be3 media), I am sticking with cap ac until there is a cap be (or similar round case AP). Until I have an actual need for better router - I keep patiently waiting.
@pe1chl : Fair argument. So, maybe it was not smart to ask.
On the other hand:
It was announced by MT. And from my POV it was VERY important to announce something with WiFi 7 - to avoid loosing users to other companies. I wait intensivly for an update of my WiFi 5 setup. Somehow urgent and started to look on the market. Now I stopped it, because I prefer definitly a full MT setup. And now I'm very keen on it and can't wait for it. And my wife and daughters and colleagues in my office as well (sometimes struggeling with missing dtim, more bandwidth, more stable,etc...)
I would buy both (3x hAP be3 and a RB6xxx) immediatly (even if my FTTH here will probably will not come before next year as well - I have the empty tube in my basement, but the fiber is missing and will take time)
Even if a RB6xxx would be announced - so many people are buying not-informed... the RB5009 is a nice piece HW and will find buyers - even if there is a RB6xxx. Not everybody needs 2.5G. I do for business. But of course there must be a price differtence somehow.
Famously used by 1960s-1980s IBM salesmen to deter clients from switching, preserving current and future service revenue, whereas in product sales it is a killer of your own sales.
It was already mentioned that first devices will be manufactured in mid February if all goes well. If no extra delays etc., I guess the time is not so distant future.
Multi link shows around February 20th but Baltic networks customer support mentioned they are expecting stock near March 20th. But they were hoping for shipments earlier than that.
Obviously like Normis said, date probably largely depends on delays and such
