Looks like the cat is out of the bag. So who was the closest?

It kind of does, it’s a range and is by default set to “auto”.

Great features though, where can we get one then and when. How much ?

Contact your closest distributor, ORDERS ARE OPEN, list price is 179US, but will depend on the market and any local discounts, as usual. Shipping in around 1-2 months if all goes well.

P.S: If you count the device as a Matter over Thread Hub, you can theoretically count that as a 60-90USD worth product in itself, so 179 minus that, is a great deal.

Thats a great price whats the catch

Great device and great price.

But as I don’t need wifi, media and automation features in my router, any chance there is an ethernet router with small form factor and similar specs upcoming?

Quickly covering the questions that were asked before the brochure reveal:

  • yes, it has a lockable lid, under that you will find one USB-A for a flash drive, a microSD slot, and a USB-C for faster/bigger SSD drive, the hole is for the USB-C cable in that case. There is also another USB-A on the top of the unit, to quickly plug another flash drive, without unplugging your permanent drives. So three USB ports and a microSD, storage galore!

  • Yes it does have all three bands including 6GHz, it’s a proper WiFi 7 device

  • Yes, it can run Home Assistant, there is 2GB of RAM and all kinds of storage options

  • Yes, it has Thread radio and you can run HA / Matter containers and use this as a Matter hub to control all your smart IKEA lights, montitor temperatures and whatnot, no need to buy a 3rd party hub anymore (save money!)

  • It’s 64Bit ARM

  • Of course more 802.11be / WiFi 7 models are coming too

  • If you are worried that Containers are complicated, we will have more news in that regard VERY SOON

To be frank, I’ll take one just for the fact I can press a button and have containers. I’m hoping the bluetooth and Thread can be disabled. It makes me cringe all the connected stuff!

RB5009 is too big and overpriced for me, and has only one 2,5Gbps port.

There is a huge price gap between the Hex Refresh (and derived models) and the RB5009.
If they can build/sell this hAP be3 Media for 179US, then it should be possible to build an ethernet router with the same specs by stripping out wifi, media and matter that’s sits perfectly in the middle between Hex Refresh and RB5009 (110-130US?).

That would be a no brainer for me…

DCO what product are you talking about? nothing of that is correct for hAP be

@normis sorry because I've said it multiple times, but I'm super excited about Mikrotik WiFi since a few weeks ago I had the chance to test wAPs (been a long time customer, but just for routing side). If next device is a wAP be, you made my countryside (which also needed at least 2 hap be!, so I'm contacting my distributor now for them!) and school project real and I'm buying minimum 16 waps the day orders are open.

If I could ask, it's a real missed opportunity that PoE out is not supported (like in cap ax), since the wAP would be a great PoE feeder for cameras.

Are they still far away from release?

Thank you very much for replying to all our questions!

Response to kowal about the RB5009, not the hAP be³ (will clarify in my reply).

I like the hAP be³ from the available information, but I’m hoping an ethernet router only version is also in the pipeline.

@normis you've probably finished work, right?
Go spend your free time with your family or cats, it's your choice.
Get some rest, you'll have time to reply to our posts tomorrow

PS. Thanks for your answers!

So WiFi on this device is limited to a single chain? Is MLO supported?

@normis Are you planning a mAP be or at least a mAP ax? (2 ports, POE in/out with 48-57V, possibility to share network from an Android phone using the USB port, …)

As nothing is ever mentioned we can assume 2x2x2

Brochure says the product code is MA53UG+HbeH

If it had more than 1x1 I would expect to see letters “D” or “T” in the wifi part.

That cpu worries me, current hap ax3 runing pppoe client connected to isp and with that combo wireguard can’t push more then around 500 mbit, I wonder if this will be any upgrade over hap ax3 regards that, if not even downgrade of performance?

just little specs available officially on that QXM series

Little more on IPQ5322
