GigaByte GN-WP01GT

Hello EveryBody!

I’ve got a brand new GigaByte GN-WP01GT PCI card, but it does not working with Mikrotik RouterOS. I’ll try this card in MT 2.9.6 or 2.9.12. I can’t see it in the interface list. Why?

Vlagyimir

Maybe it is not an Atheros based card like Gigabyte GN-WPEAG.

“The Super G is a set technologies was invented by the Atheros Company to double the throughput of the 54Mbps promised by the IEEE 802.11g wireless standard.”

Is it support or not Atheros?

There are only Win2000/XP driver on the CD.

It won’t work with my MT?

The customer sad this card is the descendant GN-WPEAG card. WPEAG is working fine with MT, but I can’t buy these “old typed” card.

Thanks

Vlagyimir

GN-WP01GT appears to be an Atheros chipset – as it mentions Super G. You should send a supout file to use and we will add support to the next version.

John

Just Google and you will find them.

I purchased several hundred for a lousy $22 each and they works a treat.

Hello John?

What does it mean supout file?

Vlagyimir

A supout file is a “support-output” file that you can create on your RouterOS machine and send to MikroTik. It contains necessary information about your system for doing support (usually). But as it contains system (hardware) config information, too, it can be used by MikroTik to add support to (until now) unknown Atheros based wireless cards, for example.

Just do a “/system sup-output” and you’ll get a file called “supout.rif”, which you then should send to MikroTik (support@mikrotik.com) as asked for by John.

In older computers like PI pci slot is version 1.1 and they cannot see newer cards. I have the same card on my PII machines and they working fine…
