Hi,
As in topic google have just removed support for logging to gmail mailbox just with login and password via smtp. They informed about it twice, and now since two days all my routers stopped sending logs via email. Are there plans to implement oauth on mikrotik devices or we need to move to other mailbox provider?
Did you try https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords
The setting you’re looking for isn’t available in your account.
EDIT. Ok it now appeared as available after enabling two factor authentication. Seems it may be the solution to this.
Yes, two-factor-authentication is required for app passwords.
Changed several of my Gmail accounts to 2FA and added app passwords and now working fine on my three MT routers, and a bunch of other devices.
wow thanks for this after activating s2fa and app password it work again ![]()
Weird that something documented works as intended, huh?
I just received mail that app passwords are going away too, and we need to switch to OAuth by the end of the year. Does RouterOS support OAuth now?
Seriously? $%&$(@(#$!^*#
Time to stop using Google then I suppose.
That isn’t OAuth?
Haven’t heard any official word from Mikrotik about OAuth, but it would make sense for them to jump on that bandwagon.
There are plenty of SMTP Relay services that allow relay over port 25 or 2525 or 587 etc with and without TLS and using a normal username/password. Many of them are even free for small numbers of emails e.g. SMTP2GO free for 1000 emails per month,
I would prefer to see the development team work on more core features of a router than implementing an OAUTH client in RouterOS.
Why?
Thanks ![]()
after enable the 2FA it works!!!
Just one note after you enter https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords
you have to create the password for use it with your mikrotik gmail account ![]()
