GPeR and CSS326-24G-2S+RM

We have run a new line to our main tower using GPeR’s and it works good except for one thing. When I plug it into the CSS326-24G-2S+RM that we are using for a switch there, the power light goes off, as do all the port lights. I plugged my laptop into the end and was able to surf the web nicely. I did pull the jumpers out of the last GPeR but I am thinking of putting them back in. If I leave it unplugged from the unit at the head end, but leave it plugged into the POE, it does not kill the power on the switch.

Any idea’s?

If you don’t want power coming out of the GPeR you are correct to remove the jumpers from the last one. did you remove them from the correct side? have you tried another port on the CSS326 or could it be failing to auto sense the speed?

I did pull out the correct jumpers. As for the failing the autosense, even if it did, would it cause everything to power off.

There is one thing I am thinking, the switch does have a POE in, so how does it determine if there is power coming in, or rather potentially coming in. The GPeR jumpers break the power lines, but what about the ground lines? Could the switch be sensing the grounds, and switches to the POE in for power instead of the power jack? I have some testing to do.

Well on the advice of Mikrotik I removed the jumpers from both sides of the GPeR and that worked. Also according to them, I have a wiring issue somewhere. Everything checks fine, but until spring, I can’t go any further. Everything is working as it should.
