So I have quite a few gperx4 and some mantbox 12 and 15s, but this seems not to be a valid combo?
My crs320 powers up the gperx4 just fine, but the gperx4 can’t power up either a mantbox ax 15s or a mantbox 2 12s.
What I read was that mantbox ax 15s needs PoE in input Voltage 18-28 V and 2 12s needs PoE in input Voltage 18-28 V
gperx4 lists PoE out 802.3af/at
None of MT PoE gear will guess/regulate voltage … it’s “what comes in, goes out”.
Now: specs on product page are often incomplete (if not misleading) to people not familiar with PoE gotchas. Because PoE is not one single thing (standard 802.3 af/at/bt), there are many. All MT gear so far (there might be one or two exceptions) supports “passive” PoE with flexible input voltages. So you have to check input voltages of all of your gear and see if there’s some common voltage range, acceptable by all of them. And then use power adapter which provides suitable voltage to power all of the gear.
I’m doing homework for you:
GPeRx4 : 802.3 af/at (nominally around 48V) + 24V-57V passive
mANTBox 2 12s : 10V-28V passive
mANTBox 15s : 12V-28V passive
So the common voltage for all devices is 24V-28V. Which is not something CRS320 is capable of producing (brochure says “It supports only fully compliant 802.3 at/af/bt Powered Devices”).
The complication as indicated by GPeRx4 brochure is that non-802.3 voltages can only be fed via 2-pin power input, not via UTP (PoE ). I wouldn’t be too surprised if it turned out not to be entirely true and that PoE-in can be passive as well. However it is true that all PoE (both -in and -out) ports are limited with current and in case of lower voltages permissible max current might be too little to power all attached PoE devices. With the mix of powered devices you mentioned total power budget is close to 43W which at 24V means almost 2A.
