Groove 52HPn downgrade now wont boot

Hello,

I have a customer i just installed several Groove 52HPn AP’s alternating channels etc.
Microsoft and Android devices connect fine to wireless, Apple do not.
In troubleshooting this with another Groove i have offsite, i rolled the 6.7 back to 4.17 by adding 4.17 upgrade package files into file area of Mikrotik, then issued a /system package downgrade the device rebooted and the lights light up it makes boot sounds.
But winbox and IP can not connect.
I have reset config by reset button, and removed routerboard from housing and performed jumper reset probably 20 times. I have done this with other Mikrotiks and i remember sometimes it took me a few tries.

I have console cables… is there a way to console into this board and reset to 5 or newer, im thinking 4.7 just wont run on this board?

Thanks!

Another question.
When i do the reset using the pin hole jumper, is this the correct method.

  1. take routerboard out of case
  2. metal jump side of hole to side of hole
  3. plug power (in this case POE) in
  4. How long do i hold the jumper? it boots with normal LED lights and sounds… i never hear a different tone of see a different light sequence.

Also by doing this type of reset would it even matter… if i hosed the board by loading a OS that is not supported?

thanks

4.17 is NOT supported on this board. Only way for your routerboard is netinstall http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall

Thanks Honzam.

That is exactly what i was looking for.
So i got the Groove to boot PXE and the Netinstall sees the device, i have tried routeros-mipsbe 5.26 and 6.7 and they both fail after copying, then installing for at least 60 seconds, it looks like its going to install then goes to a failed state.
Installation failed: no response from router, timout

If i reset the groove to PXE i can get it back into Netinstall.

Thanks

i doubt this would matter, but the groove and the computer running netinstall are connected via another mikrotik with ports on a bridge

I tried with a workgroup switch same result.

what netinstall version are you using?
Make sure that you use the latest Netinstall version - v6.7 currently.
Also make sure that the IP address in the Netbooting is from the same IP network that your PCs IP.

thanks uldis,

indeed they are on same subnet, using netinstall 6.7
the groove and its MAC show up in the Netinstall Router/Drivers window
when i select the package, it shows my previous key, its correct, the routeros-mipsbe file shows downloading to device then installing, them bombs out.

Alright i’m jumping for joy because i have a customer waiting on my fix and i didnt have time this week to order new hardware and monkey around.

What worked was using Netinstall version 5.26 with routeros-mipsbe 5.26

What didnt work was using Netinstall version 6.7 with routeros-mipsbe 5.26 or verison 6.7

Hope this helps someone down the road.!

Thanks for the leads guys, very much appreciated!
