Groove A-52HPn local WLAN disconnection

Hey all,

I hope you are all well!

I am following up on an old locked topic (http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/groove-disconnect/114965/12).

I have purchased the Groove A-52HPn with licence 4 to use it as a standalone device for grabbing WIFI signals from land and bring them on my boat with a WLAN for all my devices to be connected to (IP cameras, laptops, portable devices, etc). I have the same problem as the Topic Author: " When I am connected to an access point (e.g. marina), from my boat, everything works ok, depending on the signal that I receive.
The problem arises when there is no signal from the land (even for a split second) since there are many interferences, other boats, the swinging of the boat and so on.
In that case, the wi-fi network from the Groove stops, and I cannot access my routerboard interface, even to change the access point."
I managed to set the Groove as per w32pamela’s instructions while she was trying to help Jorge (the Topic Author). I’ve used the quick set to set the Groove as a basic CPE and then I create a virtual WLAN 2, a bridge and open ports for all interfaces to make Groove transmit a local SSID that I can connect my devices to without the need of an ethernet cable. That is how I managed to get both ethernet and WLAN to work with all of my devices. The problem is that as mentioned in the old topic, “the Station side is on wlan1 which is the master and the AP-bridge is on wlan2; the virtual AP. When the connection is lost from a WIFI on land (marina) then the repeater shuts down”. That leaves me with no WLAN (even without an internet connection). The Groove shuts completely down and to wake it up I have to either unplug it from the power brick or connect it to an ethernet port which is not a viable solution as in a volatile boat environment I may experience dozens of disconnections per day even for a split second that send the Groove to sleep.
How can I achieve a permanent stable boat WLAN on my boat even if I get interruptions from land WIFI signals?
Apologies for the long description. :grimacing:

Cheers,

Harry

Buy a separate device to connect to wifi and forget about the problems.
Separate device for receiving, separate device for transmitting.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate it.
I have a ZTE ZXHN H108N an ADSL/ADSL2+ Wi-Fi router based on Broadcom 6328. (https://openwrt.org/toh/zte/zxhnh108n) Can I use that for the WLAN on the boat?
How should I set up my Groove to provide internet input to my ZTE router using an ethernet cable? I am looking for the actual settings in Winbox.
Any suggestions?
