Groove A52Hpn configuration question

I am trying to configure my groove to operate as a range extender on my sailboat. I have the groove connected to my wired ethernet port on the laptop, and have followed instructions that I have found on here. Winbox recognizes the Groove, and the Groove is connected to my local wifi router, according to the Quick Set screen in WinBox.

in router mode i have address acquisition set to DHCP, WLAN IP set to 192.168.1.6/24, Gateway set to 192.168.1.1, LAN IP set to192.168.88.2, and NAT enabled. From the WinBox Terminal I can ping the three addresses.

Now to my laptop (windows 7 sp1). I have the wireless Network connection disabled. On the network card I see Unidentified network. Under properties, IPv6 is set to Obtain an IPv6 address automatically. IPv4 is set to use IP addr 192.168.88.2, default gateway 192.168.88.1 and the DNS server is set to 192.168.88.1 When I ping from the windows command prompt I cannot get a ping from any of the addresses.

Note - i am not proficient in networking … a rank beginner. How do I get this to work?s for your kind help.

Generally you’ll want to have your computer IPv4 property set to get DHCP automatically from the Groove LAN. You need the Groove wireless set to Station and you want to setup the Groove wlan
as a Dhcp client and the LAN as a DHCP server. Plug the Groove into the WAN./Internet port or your router after you’ve set it up.
