Groove firmware downgrade

Hello, I’ve a problem: I’ve tried to downgrade a Groove from 5.0 to 4.17, and now it seems to be bricked… It only make “beep” but does not starts. I’ve ethernet link up, but nothing in winbox. Someone can help me? Thanks.

NetInstall it and put 5.x on there. You can’t run Grooves on 4.x. The minimum version that supports them is 5.x. That’s why there’s no download for 4.x on the official download page when you select the Groove as a product.

Thanks! But I’ve never used netinstall. What’s the way to proceed?

Read the manual: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Netinstall
Combine that with the Groove manual from routerboard.com to find the reset button.

hello,

I did the same big mistake with a groove, and now i have the same problem.
Netinstall doesn’t detect the device even with holding of reset button.

In Romania, GROOVE cost as a salary, so if i can not solve the problem, I will work one month for free. :frowning:

There should be no problem Netinstalling this Groove if proper steps are observed. You could need a second person to help you, one who holds button, other who applies power:

  1. turn off the Groove
  2. connect your PC directly to Groove
  3. Disable any antivirus or firewall programs in your PC, open Netinstall (if possible “run as administrator”)
  4. hold reset button on Groove
  5. apply power, while still holding the button
  6. the LED on the Groove will start flashing, keep holding the button
  7. when LED stops flashing, release the button
  8. Netinstall will now detect the Groove in the device list

If not working, try another PC

And the lesson from this topic — never use RouterOS version older than the Original one on this device.
