hairy trigger on winbox's "router has been disconnected

Has anyelse else experienced/noticed that winbox’s trigger for “router has been disconnected!” is a little hairy?

I believe I have also seen contradictions, namely counters still incrementing in the background behind the popup.

please explain to us latvians, what do you mean by hairy

Hi, Normis! Thanks for your question. Like a Congress Critter, I enjoy revising and extending my remarks — but, also like a Congress Critter, I ask you to please not hold me to anything I may have written in the past, including the following

A hair trigger on a gun is one that doesn’t require much pressure, say 1.5 pounds rather than the safer 4 pounds and up (e.g., a NYC PD Glock is said to require ~ 12 pounds).

Perhaps hair triggers were developed in the Wild West (wherever that was) to allow a competitive edge when involved in shoot outs at the OK Corral.

Translated: my experience is that WinBox can issue that pop up when it shouldn’t (perhaps it is not tolerant enough regarding the stimulus which [it thinks] is causing the message). Furthermore, I believe I have seen a small number of cases in which the message appears but the only invocation of winbox is displaying continuously updated counters right behind the pop up.

Another indication is that I believe I have seen the pop up occur while maintaining a separate ssh connection to the router. i.e, the separte ssh connection still works after the pop up occurs and indeed after the pop up has been acknowledged and the corresponding invocation of WinBox has [self] terminated.

Further, in all cases I have observed in which the pop up has occurred, the RB532 will show that ROS hasn’t rebooted.

Perhaps WinBox has a low priority (like ICMPs) and the pop up is triggered during periods of intense activity?

Perhaps I should quit trying to guess why I get the message too often and simply ask you or Uldris the conditions under which the pop up occurs. That might be much more helpful.

My apologies in advance for wasting bandwidth and time if I’m all wrong about this — I did mention Congress Critter, correct?

best regards/ldv
