Handling more than 700 Clients & VLAN

Hi there

we have more than 700 LAN customers each 1.5Mbps connected via LAN cables to more than 100 switches

Our network Back bone is 5XRB250GS switches

We tried to use forwarding restrictions (private vlans) to control broadcasts and TCP slow responses but it seems not a pretty solution

We suffer from network instability , slow TCP responses , Low TTLs , bad connections … etc

If we implement VLANS on RB250GS … could it handle this much traffic and solve our issues?

Or shall we physically separate into smaller LANS ?

I inclueded a diagram . hope it helps

Thanks

With 700 devices in the same layer 2 network every single device will receive & have to process every single broadcast frame, so splitting them up via VLANs would reduce this broadcast overhead. Ideally you’d have 50-100 devices maximum in the same layer 2 network. However I doubt an RB1200 is fast enough to handle inter-VLAN routing for a 1Gbps link with 700 devices.
