I have more than 30 hAP ac^2 that are used as plain APs, but since they are limited to 16MB disk, I am continuously running into issues on latest 7.2x release builds.
Please consider this an appeal for Mikrotik to split out infrequently used modules such as BGP routing protocol and IP Web Proxy into separate packages, giving this class of device some much needed breathing room.

Since they weren't designed for the 7, but work perfectly with the latest 6,
why bother trying to fit the 7, when it doesn't add anything to these devices?
I've installed thousands of them, I install them and forget they exist with v6, never a software problem...
If you really want to use v7, use devices that were originally built with it...
And v7 isn't ready for install-and-forget in many cases anyway...
Considering that when everything works, no one posts about it on the forum, but people just come to complain.
Much simpler: Package separate wifi drivers, each for its own device.
With MT's second-gen AC devices (hAP ac2, cAP ac, ARM-based wAP ac) this is simply not true.
You're right that these devices shipped with ROS v6 and wireless driver ... but legacy wireless driver was a lazy dog on wifiwave2 devices ... only installing ROS v7 with wifiwave2 (or later wifi-qcom-ac) drivers really allowed these devices to work up to their full potential.
Unless one decides that 500Mbps over 5GHz WiFi is not needed (and 200Mbps is enough). Yes, these devices work marvelously as wired-only routers (my hAP ac2 without any wifi/wireless driver installed runs ROS 7.21.5 and has 2116KiB storage free).
