Hello,
I was thinking about upgrading from the hAP ac² to ac³ because of the new high gain antennas for a better Wi-Fi coverage.
I have been comparing other specs to make sure I would not downgrade any of the current ac2 functionalities I currently use.
I compared the FCC Grant of Certification (5GHz) of hAP ac2 and hAP ac3.
For hAP ac2 the ranges are: 5180.0 - 5240.0
5260.0 - 5320.0
5500.0 - 5720.0
5745.0 - 5825.0
For hAP ac3 the ranges are only: 5180.0 - 5240.0
5745.0 - 5825.0
It seems that DFS channels (UNII-2) are missing in ac3 specs, although there were supported by ac2!?
I could not find the official supported Wi-Fi channels anywhere else in the product description. Upgrading from ac2 to ac3 means losing 5GHz DFS channels?
I contacted Mikrotik technical support in parallel of posting the message above yesterday.
Just received their reply today if anyone else was wondering the same as I did:
“The hAP ac^2 has U-NII-2 channels certified which at the moment are pending for the hAP ac^3.”
“At the moment there is no ETA, because due to the COVID-19 situation the priorities were changed and DFS frequency range certification will take longer than expected.
The DFS frequencies will be available by simply updating RouterOS versions.”
