hAP ac² – Only ~350Mbps in bandwidth-test on gigabit line

Hi Folks,

I have a couple of ac^2s, and I cannot get close to gigbit speeds on either. Fasttrack is enabled and both are on 7.20.4.

Speeds are topping out before 400Mbps. On one occasion I got 404.1Mbps.

The bandwidth test I am running is to a server on my own network, so it’s not even as though it’s going over the internet.

Speeds test to the internet are similar on gigabit line!

If I dial PPPoE directly from my macbook I am hitting 800-900Mbps with no issues.

Are the Ac^2s supposed to be gigbit capable ? I know the paperwork says so.

Has anybody had the same issue? I know there is one more thread on here where the poster had the same issue.

TIA

I confirm that the hAP AC2 is capable of gigabit speed with PPPoE.

Are there any queue or any limiting settings in firewall? What is the CPU usage on full bandwidth using?

If possible, do a netinstall with a latest version, with no default config and set up PPPoE session only (and of course the minimal things to be able to reach the internet, e.g. NAT or DHCP server for lan device)

You need to check fast track counters in firewall. They must be increasing. Also check /ip/settings/print. It should show fast track active and fast track counters > 0.

How’s MTU looking on that interface?

ifconfig |grep mtu

Is it different from MTU that MikroTik’s PPPoE client’s interface gets?

/interface/print

How further in packet size you can go without packet fragmentation from MacBook plugged in directly Vs. through ac^2?

ping 1.1.1.1 -s 1500
