I’m using RB951Ui-2HnD for a long and decided to change it to 5GHz hAP ac, but found that storage size is only 16MB.
After removal on my RB951 of everything except 1 backup file storage usage is 17MB.
How on the new device the same can fit in 16MB, especially if it will be necessary to install more packages?
RouterOS takes a lot less than 16MB. There must be something else in your system that takes away this space.
16MB is enough for RouterOS, a backup file, a supout.rif file.
I checked everything twice - logging is stored only in memory, graphs are disabled, old support files removed.
Besides that the device was reset to defaults not so long ago.
Have no idea how are you planing to fit 16MB storage for a long as packages archive is already taking 13MB.
It depends a lot on the architecture of the device.
We have several different types of router.
Some stats:
RB750Gr3 - 9.7 MB
RB951 - 17.2 MB
CCR1009 - 39.7 MB
Like you I am worried about the future space requirement (how much space will RouterOS v7 take with all those exciting new features???)
but the above list clearly shows that you cannot use a space estimation on one device to guess space use on another device.
