I have a hAP ac which is connected via ethernet-cable to internet. I also have a wAP ac which I want to use for amplifying the wifi-signal. The two are connected via ethernet-cable. I am trying to set up CAPsMAN using the tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taQ70m0DVYA
But when I’m done following the steps for configuring the wireless settings (2:11-3:05 in the video) the wifi shuts down and I’m disconnected from Winbox, where this window appears: see attached picture
After this I need to restart the router on the reset-button and start from the beginning, always with the same result.
How can I overcome this problem? I have searched the internet with no result. Help is very much appreciated.
Another thing I realized is that my version doesn’t seem to be the newest one even though it says it is updated. RouterOS v6 and not v7. Is this correct?
ROS 6.49.10 is a special case because it is AND stable AND long term.
You can ignore that message (though it’s not logical at all).
If you want to upgrade to ROS7, you need to use upgrade channel (but not needed here).
When you configure the device using wireless, it would be a bit normal to loose connection when you change those same wireless settings, no ?
It’s like cutting a branch from a tree while you sit on it. (don’t try it !)
If you use a cable, make sure to connect it to the port not used for WAN access because that one will most likely be blocked in firewall for entry.
