Where can i find documentation on the light indicators on a hAP ac.
My wireless led is blinking green, orange and red. What does this mean?
Oh yea? My wlan1 interface (that’d be led # 0 and where your wireless bar symbol is on the case) is configured as 2Ghz and is lit up redder than christmas. I think the guy’s point was the light’s colour and behaviour should be documented somewhere. I’m inclined to agree since red intuitivly isn’t a colour I want to see from any of my devices. And since the “TYPE” is wireless-status and not activity, I can’t see why they’d need to blinking at all it’s either up or it’s not. Unless there’s more to it, aaaand document it.
# TYPE INTERFACE LEDS
0 * wireless-status wlan1 wlan1-led
1 * wireless-status wlan2 wlan2-led
2 * interface-activity sfp1 sfp-led
This annoyed me enough to follow up on it, and seems I was wrong in my assumption about the indicies. Talking 30 minutes to do some testing, once and forall, it appears what’s actually going on is:
# TYPE INTERFACE LEDS
0 * wireless-status wlan1 wlan1-led
1 * wireless-status wlan2 wlan2-led
2 * interface-activity sfp1 sfp-led
The LED number 0 1 2 are pretty much useless ids, they don’t correspond to the case in any way, case leds being: wifi, lan 1-5, sfp and pwr. They do not map 1:1. Taking these 8 leds 0 -7 the sfp-led index should be 6, but here it’s 2. Seems asthough they are just ids. Disconnecting all devices shows solid red light at case position Wifi, and solid green list at position lan 1 (My poe-in wan port) and solid blue list at position pwr. Since I’m not using any sfps in this unit there’s no sfp led lit up.
The documentation does state due to hardware restrictions only some leds are programmable for the hap ac it’s 0, 1, 2 as shown above. Case position Wifi appears to be my wlan2-led 5Ghz RED and position lan 1 is wlan1-led 2.4Gz GREEN, coloured as stated by the documentation. By connecting devices to either, the lights start to flash so TYPE “wireless-status” serves two purposes; first as wifi status indicator, the presence of the light indicates that the interface is up AND as activity indicator with the presence of the blink showing traffic on the interface.
